The OC... Oregon Coast in July

I made my bi-annual pilgrimmage to my Mom's on the Oregon Coast and, as always, took advantage of the scenic beauty all around. I always enjoy going to Shore Acres State Park, which combines the rugged coastline with their blooming Botanical Gardens.
For me, it's the geology that makes this bit of the coast special. Imagine those powerful storm waves battering those stoutly resistant rocks for century after century. Yes, the biggest waves do splash over the top of those bluffs.

This lonely, lazy sea lion was oblivious to everything going on around him.

Mom decided that my camera would like the McCullogh Bridge, which carries US Highway 101 across Coos Bay, an ocean port. The engineering and artistry of this bridge are quite photo-worthy. They are currently restoring parts of it, with current work cleaning up the approach ramps.

The Botanical Gardens at Shore Acres is always full of blooming roses and other flowers during July. I'm still not that skilled at macro photography but, I think I am getting better at it, now.

Mom also took me up to a high spot right close to town. This is looking west, somewhere near the Coos Bay port town of Charleston. This was marine layer fog, and not storm clouds.
