Pics for charity

These three pictures were auctioned off at our TEAMS annual meeting in Tucson, last December. All three were unframed and all had several bidders. Although they didn't go as high as last year's pics went, they still fetched a good return for the Combined Federal Campaign, a group of worthy charities.
This companion picture to last year's El Capitan shot went for $165 unframed. I was hoping that one of our TEAMS owners would buy it to go along side the one he bought last year. It did go to a good home, though.

I decided to sell some Zion pictures this year and test the market. Both of these Zion pictures were sold in the 12x18 inch size. Zion is still one of my favorite places and I will be going back there someday to add to my collection. This one was taken in an area called "The Grotto" in the early morning. Ya just gotta love those silhouettes of those trees. This picture netted $85.

Finally, there's this colorful shot of a steeple-like rock formation. I could spend a week down there, exploring this national treasure and hanging out on the high cliffs. It boggles my mind to wonder just how many great pictures I could take there. This one sold for $156.

So, all told, my pictures brought in $406 and TEAMS as a whole amassed over $15,000 in auctioned donations, putting other Forest Service units to shame in the contribution arena. Again, I do need to start trying to sell some of these for my own "charitable" goals. It's tough to compete with all the great photographers already out there and I know that I'll not be getting rich off selling my wares but...

Holiday Hiatus?

I did have an unusual holiday season this last year,
with me working right up until Christmas, keeping an eye on those pesky helicopter loggers. Couple that with a problem in the phone company's portion of my phone line and I've been away from the Internet for a while. Yes, I've seen that the world indeed HAS gone without me for many weeks now, eh? Now that I'm off work for the winter, I'll try posting some vintage (and poorly scanned) photos from my slide archives.

These two pics were from a snow-camping trip I took at Yosemite out to Glacier Point.
What an AWESOME morning THAT was! Camping
on the very edge of a 3000 foot drop on top of many
feet of sierra snow. As you can see by the frost along
the edges of the falls, the previous night really WAS a
pretty cold one. The skiing is always quite easy
because they groom the Glacier Point Road with
snowcats and the terrain is rather rolling with only
a short little drop from Sentinel Dome down into
Glacier Point.

More holiday picture news coming soon!
